The Métis Nation is involved in several forums regarding environmental issues and continues to work to engage Métis communities across the Métis Nation Homeland. Conferring with others is essential to obtain and exchange information. The Métis National Council encourages discussion among traditional land users, women, youth, Elders, and scholars regarding their perspectives of Métis relationships with the environment.
In its advocacy work for Métis People, the Métis National Council seeks to strengthen relationships among Métis across the Homeland, forge good relationships with the Government of Canada, and ensure Métis interests are represented in international forums that affect our lives.
Building relationships is a foundational value of the traditional holistic worldview of Métis People.
